Under the project “Centro Brilla”, excavation work has begun on Presidente Franco Street in downtown Asunción. The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) announced that three contractor companies will work simultaneously in different sections to expedite the process. Civil works include excavation, installation of underground conduits, construction of utility access points, and sidewalk repairs along Presidente Franco Street between Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and Chile.

The project is divided into three sections:

  • Section 1: Between Antequera and México
  • Section 2: Between Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and Chile
  • Section 3: Between O’Leary and Ayolas

Additionally, work will extend to Estrella Street (continuing as 25 de Mayo), Benjamín Constant, Presidente Franco, and Paraguayo Independiente between Antequera, Castro, and Hernandarias.

To ensure smooth execution, ANDE is coordinating with the Municipality of Asunción, ESSAP, Copaco, and other relevant organizations, according to ANDE’s president, Ing. Félix Sosa. The project aims to modernize the electrical system in historic areas, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government Palace, and the Cabildo. It will also include the installation of new medium- and low-voltage networks, along with additional ducts for telecommunications companies to transition their wiring underground. (Source: ABC)
