The maquila regime remains a cornerstone for attracting foreign direct investment and boosting exports in Paraguay. In 2024, the sector achieved record exports of USD 1.119 billion, an 11% increase from 2023, surpassing the previous high of USD 1.036 billion in 2022.

Natalia Cáceres, executive secretary of the National Council of Export Maquila Industries (CNIME), highlighted the approval of 36 new programs in 2024, representing over USD 100 million in investments. The sector also created nearly 5,000 new jobs, bringing total employment to almost 30,000, with an accumulated investment projection of USD 103 million.

For 2025, the challenge remains to strengthen Paraguay's position as a top destination for foreign investment and a leader in export growth, according to Cáceres. (Source: LANACION)
