Minga Guazú to Become Paraguay’s Hub for Electric Bus Manufacturing

Paraguay is set to take a major step in electromobility with the arrival of 30 electric buses from Taiwan’s Master Transportation Bus in early March. This initiative will pave the way for a local production plant in Minga Guazú, with plans to supply the Mercosur region.
Company executives highlighted Paraguay’s abundant and low-cost hydroelectric power as a key advantage for transitioning from diesel to electric buses. The initiative promises significant benefits, including a 50% reduction in maintenance costs and lower carbon emissions. The buses, equipped with advanced Toshiba LTO batteries, can charge from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes and have a lifespan of over 12 years.
Once the initial fleet is operational, the company plans to establish a manufacturing plant by late 2025, assembling 500 chassis annually. This project is expected to generate over 2,600 jobs by 2030, strengthening Paraguay’s position as a regional leader in sustainable transportation. (Source: FOCO)
