Salta Wines Find a Rising Star in Paraguay: High-Altitude Flavors Captivate a Growing Market

With its unique terroir and bold identity, Salta’s high-altitude wines are gaining momentum in Paraguay, emerging as a top destination for Argentine premium exports. Produced over 2,000 meters above sea level in the Calchaquí Valley, these wines are known for their complexity, intensity, and rich character—qualities that have captured the attention of Paraguayan importers, restaurants, and wine lovers.
“Paraguay is a strategic partner for us,” said Alejandro Martorell, President of the Salta Wineries Association. “There’s cultural affinity, strong demand for quality, and real appreciation for our distinctive style.”
This August, between 20 and 24 wineries from Salta will participate in Vinexpo Asunción, looking to strengthen partnerships and expand distribution. With the recent launch of direct flights between Asunción and Salta and an increasing number of Paraguayan wine tourists visiting the region, connections between the two markets are deepening.
More than just exports, the goal is to build long-term ties, elevate the Salta brand, and share the story of its world-class wines with Paraguay and beyond. Source: InfoNegocios
