The Paraguayan summer is intensifying as the Directorate of Meteorology issues a special warning for extreme temperatures expected this week. Temperatures will range from 33°C to over 41°C, with little to no rain and minimal cloud cover, leading to a significant heat buildup.

According to Eduardo Mingo, director of Meteorology, the La Niña phenomenon, which arrived in January, is contributing to reduced rainfall and intensified heat. The most affected areas will be Asunción (38-40°C) and the Western Region, especially Boquerón (above 40°C). The heat index is expected to be even higher.

Authorities warn of an increased risk of wildfires due to dry conditions and urge caution with fire hazards, such as burning garbage. People are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions.

The only relief may come on Thursday, with a slight chance of showers in Asunción and surrounding areas. (Source: ultimahora)
