Transforming Lives: Sustainable Water Access Project Expands in the Chaco

A groundbreaking initiative is bringing sustainable water solutions to indigenous communities in the Central Chaco, improving quality of life for hundreds of families. The Water for Development project, led by A Todo Pulmón and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), is addressing water scarcity by constructing wells, infiltration systems, and cisterns to ensure reliable access to drinking water.
The community of Casuarina, home to 194 families from the Nivaclé people, faces severe droughts that make rainwater collection unreliable. With these new water infrastructure projects, families will no longer need to transport water over long distances. By November 2025, the initiative aims to provide safe drinking water to 500 families across all villages in Casuarina.
Beyond water access, the project promotes climate resilience by developing community orchards, planting 1,000 fruit trees, and supporting honey production. These efforts will not only enhance food security but also contribute to environmental sustainability. With AECID’s support, this initiative is a model for development, empowering communities through long-term, sustainable solutions. Source: InfoNegocios
